FightSport Asia will be a website run by passionate fight fans, and will aim to provide news, videos, features and interviews from the Asian Combat Sports world, covering Mixed Martial Arts, Muay Thai, kickboxing, grappling and more.
Martial Arts are an ancient tradition and an integral part of Eastern culture. From the many forms of art seen in Japan and China, to Thailand’s feared and respected Muay Thai, to Burmese boxing, and of course the relatively new sport of MMA that seeks to provide an arena in which all martial art skillsets can be utilised and pitted against other martial artists. As Asia cherishes these arts as part of their heritage and national identity, so do we as fans respect and enjoy them when they are used as spectator sport to thrill audiences worldwide.
In Japan, we have seen companies promoting kickboxing and MMA reach huge international audiences, such as the giant K-1, the unforgettable PRIDE and the consistently excellent Sengoku Raiden Championships, while in Thailand, their national sport and pastime of Muay Thai fills stadiums and small halls every day of the week, and encourages huge passion and interest across the country. South Korea boasts an MMA scene, with promising young fighters taking on international opposition. Burma hosts bare-knuckle tournaments pitting its best boxers against one another, while China’s RUFF seeks to allow its millions of martial artists the chance to apply their Kung Fu and other art forms in the MMA ring and cage with RUFF and Art of War. Singapore boasts the ambitious and fast-rising One FC, there is huge appetite for Fightsport in Malaysia and the Phillipines, and a plethora of great teams and camps exist all across Far East Asia.
So, if you are a fan or participant of Muay Thai, Asian MMA, kickboxing, K-1, PRIDE FC, and a whole host of other FSA delights, then please make yourselves at home here; light your proverbial e-pipe, take a seat in front of the e-fire and enjoy the news, articles, videos, features or whatever else it is that we can give you.
