Legend VIII Cancelled: Promotion Sued by RUFF & URCC

legend

My friend Mike Hackler still breaking news; MMA-Japan article.

Just to add a little colour to this mural, RUFF are sponsored by none other than Niké. Should they relax the Sino-centric regulations they have on who can fight for them, and actually allow ‘foreign’ fighters sans Chinese visas into their organisation, they would undoubtedly gain a large international following and optimise their chances of becoming huge in their domestic market.

It is rumoured that the reason RUFF and Filipino promotion URCC are suing Legend is due to the latter unlawfully taking fighters from them.

The event wasn’t canceled, just moved from Jakarta to Hong Kong.

    1. Concerning RUFF’s SINO-Centric regulations? At least foreigners can compete providing that they plan on staying (unlike Legends, which is for asians only apparently). This is called building for the future. Planning longevity. Why would they bring in talent that nobody here cares about or that will jet back to America as soon as they get a slot on the undercard of the UFC? They are actually trying hard to get the Chinese public to a. care about MMA as a sport …(and as shown by basketball, that takes having Chinese in the game). Promote the fighters and the brand grows. Art of War anyone? What did you know about their fighters?Where are they now?How about Martial Combat? How about Ultimate Wrestle? How about…the list is almost endless.

    b. it is a national MMA League, it’s not just a ‘fighting show’. There is government involvement,…so, just as any foreigner in the NBA has to have working papers…so do the RUFF fighters. If you live here…you can fight here. Period.

    2. Ruff didn’t sue Legends. Where do you guys get your facts from?

    3. Legends wasn’t cancelled either. It just so happened that the 2 top Indonesian fighters on the card got injured…so they decided to have Jakarta another time and instead make this show in HK. Again…FACTS.

It occurs to me that the MMA portion of the site is more a publicity tool for ONE FC than an actual MMA reporting site. So, how about you take an actual look about and even talk to some promoters instead of publishing every gusty farts worth of gossip you hear.

I heard from a source that RUFF were categorically suing Legend. Perhaps they’re not; either way, I’ll still sleep at night (or once every two nights, on average; case in point it being 5:30am now…)

As for this site being a publicity tool for One FC, that’s outrageous and – I would hazard a guess – purely to provoke a reaction. All I will say is, look at other sites such as Fight Nation (eleven out of twelve last posts are One FC posts) and others, then come back here and read my measured, if favourable reports on their last event and the one to come, then get back to me.

I’m sorry you feel so strongly about the site.
