Reports premature: M-1 are far from dead!
The promotion who claim dominion over Eastern Europe, and by virtue of Russia’s geography, northern Asia in its entirety, use a Russian domain and website as their primary official site, but have maintained an English language dot com domain for several years. Rumours flew in abundance as the Eurasian ‘giant’ apparently lost their M-1Global.com website, that the Russians had not paid for its hosting and were thus experiencing extreme financial troubles.
Well, Fight Sport Asia is happy to report that every single rumour was false. The site is, as of this morning (Bangkok time) back up and running, fully functional, and the organisation which has co-promoted in recent years with such American giants as Affliction and Strikeforce is far from dead. Their business dealings in recent years enabled them to build a stadium in the name of their part owner and star fighter, the great and unsurpassed Fedor Emelianenko.
As a ‘Eurasian” organisation, straddling the border between continents (and by virtue of most of Russia comprising northern Asia) Fight Sport Asia will continue to support and cover M-1 Global, one of our favourite promotions, and without question one that will be around for a long while to come.
Don’t take a website glitch the wrong way. M-1 Global aren’t done giving us great events yet.
