With the Bantamweight Grand Prix definitely in mind, Andrew Leone may have been refereeing at the Phuket Top Team BBQ Fight Night, but I’m sure he had a keen ear out for the results of this event in which two former foes and fellow Grand Prix contestants fought on, with mixed results.
Korea’s Kyung Ho Kang, the former lightweight who fought overweight against usual flyweight Leone last time out (losing a decision) defeated Japan’s Shoko Sato, a former Sengoku Grand Prix participant with a TKO win in that tournament over little fire fists Takuya Eizumi. Kang survived an uppercut knockdown to pound his opponent into giving up an armbar, and he tapped at 2:38 of the second round. Leone looks on with interest.
Another man with “L – Leone” on his record was Soo Chul Kim, who earned another loss on this event despite taking Jae Hoon Moon to the wire. The scrap was apparently extremely close, and highly entertaining in its grappling dexterity.
