Heartbreak for Sam-A; triumph for Penek.
The man who toppled the super-bantamweight king to claim the Lumpinee and Thailand featherweight Muay Thai championship titles has earned – unsurprisingly, mere days after beating his nearest rival – the Sportswriters of Thailand Fighter of the Year award for 2012.
Penek won the award after not only the triumph over Sam-A, but a solid campaign that saw him win the Lumpinee featherweight title in September against Mongkolchai, and defend it multiple times, including a January win over Sitisak.
Here is a highlight video of Penek (whose name is also Anglicised as Pen-ake) for those who have not seen him compete.
