As the news was first broken by our friends over at MMA-Japan.com DREAM has officially gone under.
The organisation is Bankrupt and has closed the doors.
After DREAM delayed the date of there last show, many started to have real concern about how things were going for Japan’s largest MMA organisation.
The concerns were answered with news that once again…. JMMA has taken a huge hit and a grave loss.
As many already know – ONE FC and DREAM had formed an official alliance and were set to co-host an event.
Well, it seems ONE FC now stands to actually benefit from the unfortunate fall of DREAM. ONE FC is in a position where they are likely to take a large chunk of the DREAM roster and give them a new home at ONE FC.
ONE FC recently announced (at the Asian MMA Summit 2012) that they had plans to host a HUGE 18 events in 2013. The DREAM roster would help this to come a reality. ONE FC also announced that they would be looking at an event held in the Saitama arena in Japan!
It still has to be said – DREAM FC will be dearly missed.
Gone before it’s time, the impact it did have was one that pleased each and every Japanophile to there strange and wacky core.
Lets run through just a few of the names that will be open to negotiation and very possibly picked up by ONE FC:
Shinya Aoki
Hiroyuki Takaya
Joachim Hansen
Ikuhisa Minowa
Tatsuya Mizuno
Antonio Banuelos
Vitor Ribeiro
Daisuke Nakamura
Ryo Chonan
Zelg Galesic & many many more
Also worth a mention is the FEMALE Dream FC fighters who may also find a home at ONE FC.
So while one organisation falls, another grows.
Lets hand the torch to ONE FC and hope like hell they can provide what Asian MMA is so desperately in need of.
