A bantamweight scrap so tasty it makes penang curry seem bland!
Two-weight DREAM Grand Prix winner Bibiano Fernandes and Australia’s Brazilian CFC champion Gustavo Falciroli are on a collision course in a dust-up set to take place on August 31st in Manila, The Philippines, at One FC V: Pride of a Nation!
We all know Bibiano is a tremendous grappler; a solid wrestler with relentless takedowns, a highly underrated black belt level submission game (with a history of submitting top class wrestlers – see Joe Warren fight) and a tendency to brawl on the feet. He is a tenacious little machine, which took him to two-weight triumphs in DREAM and victories over the likes of Warren, Hiroyuki Takaya and Joachim “Hellboy” Hansen.
Falciroli is a Shooto: Australia veteran, the reigning CFC champion (a promotion in the One FC Network) and a great grappler in his own right. He last appeared on the second One FC card in Jakarta, where he quickly submitted the once-highly touted Korean prospect Soo Chul Kim, whose losses to flyweight Andrew Leone, Leandro Issa and Falciroli have sent him down the pecking order.
Gustavo may be a Brazilian Jiu Jitsu stylist in his own right, but he has scored finishes on the feet as well, as much like Bibiano, is more than capable of tearing it up in the standing realm.
I for one look forwards to this champion vs. champion, Brazilian vs. Brazilian bout, one of many tasty scraps to appear on the One FC: Pride of a Nation card on August 31st!
