As expected.
In the absence of his most credible challenger, Jordan “Quadzilla” Watson, Aikpracha was tasked with a slightly easier objective in defeating first Marco Pique, and then Thiago Texeira to claim the WMC tournament trophy.
Aikpracha stopped Pique early, quickly and violently in the first round, whereas Texeira had to go the distance to outpoint the game Mostafa Abdollahi. Clearly there would be a huge disadvantage in freshness leading in to the final, but even so, Texeira managed to drag Aikpracha the distance to win the tournament via decision, and deny him the grand finish.
Aikpracha will face American Ky Hollenbeck, the American WBC star who won a highly contentious decision over Watson, and last knocked out Cyrus Washington with a spinning back elbow.
Stay tuned for the Queen’s Cup in Phuket on August 12th, and Push Kick Promotions on August 18th headlined by Aikpracha/Hollenbeck.
