Another tasty scrap between two fun fighters!
Folayang (11-2) was, much like stablemate and fellow “Pride of a Nation” addition Kevin Belingon, one of the brightest Filipino prospects in recent MMA history. He recently got temporarily derailed by exciting kickboxer Ole Laursen in a Fight of the Night split-decision, an even war that entertained all, but in reality neither man could be discredited from such a struggle, as it was a fight that only reflected well on the participants.
He will come up against Felipe Enomoto, brother of Yasubey and BJJ black belt, and a fun Muay Thai stylist too. Enomoto is known primarily as a striker with good boxing and Muay Thai, he is equally experienced as a grappler, and actually submitted Folayang’s recent “conqueror” in Laursen at the preceding One FC event in Jakarta with a rear-naked-choke. It was his turn to slip though against Evolve star Zorobabel Moreira, who of course went on to infamously kick Roger Huerta’s head like a football while he knelt unprotected on the ground.
This should be a tasty struggle; one feels that Enomoto has a decided advantage in the grappling realm, but has a tendency to stand, and Wushu practitioner Folayang is also a creative striker. This has the makings of a stylistically intriguing bout on the feet, where I hope it will stay until its conclusion – in this case, grappling be damned.
Stay tuned for more matchups announced by FSA for the One FC: Pride of a Nation card, from Manila, Philippines, August 31st 2012.
Live Forever.
