Three Kings

Three divisional championship titles are to the decided at One FC: Rise of Kings, in Singapore in early October.

It has not been announced (or even rumoured) what the weights are or who the championship contenders may be, but with a super-fight headliner between Japanese superstar Shinya “The Tobikan Judan” Aoki, greatest lightweight in MMA’s short history, and MuayFit’s Frenchie, Arnaud “The Game” Lepont (9-1).

The Japanese star will go into the bout as a huge favourite.

My tentative prediction would be a lightweight title, with Zorobabel Moreira fighting for it (after having just beaten Roger Huerta at 77kg), as Evolve team-mate Aoki is past the point of needing belts. The featherweight belt would be interesting, with Kawajiri a favourite to take it and the option of drafting in now contractually available talent from Japan such as Takaya, and bantamweight would also make sense, being arguably One FC’s most stacked or at least interesting division from a title perspective.

More details about the sixth One FC card will be posted as and when they emerge.

One FC: Pride of a Nation takes place on August 31st, in Manila, Philippines, and the card is as follows;

.

The third and fourth One FC events saw drastic improvements to the quality of the cards, with exciting matchups and well contested affairs, and the stacked Pride of a Nation card is the most star-studded and stacked yet.

Stay tuned to Fight Sport Asia for more news on the fifth and sixth events as and when it emerges.

For now, stay safe, always wear condom, and remember Robert Marley’s words; no woman no cry.

Slowly walking down the hall,
Faster than a cannonball,
Where were you while we were getting high?
Some day you will find me,
Caught beneath a landslide,

In a champagne supernova in the sky…
