Damien Alamos is one of the few foreigners to rule in Bangkok.
The Rajadamnern has a Japanese champion, but in his sole fight actually IN the stadium, he lost (which beats me as to how he won and then defended the title… to word it in internet geek terminology, strange Rajadamnern is strange). The Lumpinee’s only current foreign title incumbent is Damien Alamos, a Frenchie from Singpatong Gym.
Alamos just made the first defence of his Lumpinee Stadium light-welterweight title (63.5kg, or 140lbs). I caught up with him at Singpatong Gym a few days later, and we chewed the fat (and more – I was lucky enough to eat with Num Noi and his gym boys afterwards, their traditional Thai family meal after training’s end at 7:30pm).
Here’s the fight video, and the interview. Enjoy France’s best current fightsport export.
Chok dee.

Some great recording going on there ;-)
