In a surprise move, former 3-0 Korean prospect Soo Chul Kim has been given a shot at the One Fighting Championships Bantamweight title belt, against former foe Leandro “Brodinho” Issa.
The Korean, whose initial teenage run of form was halted in 30 seconds by One FC contracted flyweight Andrew Leone via guillotine choke, went on to face Issa in the One FC cage. The Brazilian Jiu Jitsu expert from Evolve MMA in Singapore managed to overcome the young prospect via decision, and Kim went on to drop bouts to CFC champ Gustavo Falciroli (also one fc signed) and then Jae Hoon Moon. However, a resurgence transpired with two successive victories, the latter being over the touted Kevin Belingon at One FC Manila, and that impressive win has elevated him into a position to challenge Issa again, this time with the inaugural One FC Bantamweight championship belt up for grabs.
With Aoki/Lepont and three championship belts at stake, One FC: Rise of Kings is looking set to be a fantastic show in Singapore! Now let’s get the One FC contracted Andrew Leone a debut fight in the promotion, and all will be right with the fightsport Asia world.
