Korea’s biggest and best may be on the brink of signing another high profile name!
Adding to the slew of recent notable foreign additions in Melvin Manhoef, Vuyisille Colossa and Ikuhisa Minowa, the Koreans may have just added the big brother from Bellator of their Bantamweight Grand Prix finalist, in securing the services of one Anthony “큰형님” Leone aka Anthony “Big Brother” Leone.
Kindly check in at LeoneMMA dot com for future updates.
The senior and more handsome Leone brother burst onto the scene in America as a featherweight, chalking up eight straight victories before being signed by World Extreme Cagefighting and then Bellator, with a fight in Strikeforce on the Fedor vs. Silva card sandwiched between for good measure. Several disappointing losses followed, a shaky spell which included one disgusting, horrific robbery loss, until Leone resolved to show bouncebackability and return strong, fire in belly. That he did, as the grappler rebounded with a solid win over Paul Gorman and a victory on the big stage in Bellator over fellow prospect Claudio Ledesma.
Following these wins, the Team Bomb Squad member decided to relocate to Phuket, Thailand, to join his kid brother among the ranks at Phuket Top Team where he trains under 3rd degree BJJ black belt Olavo Abreu and black belt Rodrigo Praxedes, plus a Muay Thai program under former Rajadamnern and Lumpinee Stadium veterans.

Such a shame that Kang just buggered off to the UFC – hopefully he returns for a Road FC fight or twelve, it would be nice to see Anthony attempt to avenge his brother’s loss in the Grand Prix final. Leone Sr. vs. Kyung Ho Kang – there’s a tasty bantamweight scrap for Asian MMA, with the added bonus of big name foreigner versus hometown hero appeal.
For those who haven’t seen Anthony in action take a gander at his HL video below
