Newly signed Featherweight Tatsuya Kawajiri isn’t wasting anytime in getting matched up.
The T-Blood affiliate will face off against Nova Uniao’s Hacran Dias on January 4th in Singapore.
A source close to Kawajiri’s camp confirmed the news with FSA earlier today.
Tatsuya Kawajiri (32-7-2) signed with the UFC earlier last month following a long and illustrious career overseas in Asia.
The 35-year-old now turns his attention to a new challenge, and his first hurdle will be against dangerous Brazilian Hacran Dias.
“Crusher” is currently on a 5-fight win streak, and since dropping to Featherweight has won his last four outings finishing three of those by way of Submission.
This will be Kawajiri’s first fight back in over a year since last competing at DREAM 18, where he defeated former UFC fighter Michihiro Omigawa in December 2012.
Hacran Dias (21-2-1) a veteran of over twenty fights has fought for the likes of Shooto Brazil, M-1 Challenge, Jungle Fight and Pancrase throughout his career. Having made easy work of his opponents, the UFC came calling.
The Nova Uniao product made his promotional debut with the UFC in June of last year, where he took a Unanimous Decision win over fellow countrymen Yuri Alcanatara.
But at UFC on FX 8, Hacran fell short to gritty wrestler Nik Lentz losing the contest via Unanimous Decision. Prior the fight Hacran was on a 9-fight win streak, and is still regarded as one of Nova Uniao’s best fighters.
The event will be held at the Marina Bay Sands in Singapore, January 4th.
