Phuket Top Team recently had the pleasure of accommodating UFC vet Anthony Perosh (14-7) ahead of his much anticipated 205-lbs contest with Ryan Bader (15-4) at UFC Fight Night 33. The Australian had the opportunity to hone his craft under the watchful eyes of some of the world’s top coaches here at Phuket Top Team, as part of his second pre-camp.
Now, as Perosh leaves, another UFC fighter arrives. Shunichi Shimizu (28-8-10) is one of several Japanese names to have put pen-to-paper in a deal with the Ultimate Fighting Championship. The 28-year-old has in fact trained with Phuket Top Team multiple times in the past, in preparation for his bouts under the Pancrase banner.
He returns to Phuket, Thailand once again, this time however, to get ready for a whole new challenge that awaits him in the world’s famous octagon.
Shimizu is somewhat of a submission ace having scored nineteen submission victories in his career thus far. Hailing from Tokyo, Japan, the 28-year-old has featured prominently in the ZST promotion. With almost a decade of pro MMA experience and more than forty contests under his belt, Shimizu is undoubtedly one of the UFC’s most experienced signings to date.
In the meantime, take a look at one of Shimizu’s most recent fights that took place in June of 2012:
