UFC Fight Night 34 gets another pair of Bantamweights added to the card, when Dustin Kimura squares off against UFC newcomer Jon delos Reyes.
Sources close to the situation confirmed the match-up with Fight Sport Asia this past weekend.
Dustin Kimura (10-1) made waves competing in his native Hawaii fighting under promotions like X-1 and Destiny MMA, before signing with the UFC.
After racking up a nine-fight win steak, including a win over hard-nosed veteran Guy DeLumeau. The UFC took notice and picked up the submission savvy Hawaiian at the beginning of the year to face Roufusport affiliate Chico Camus. Dustin went on to win the contest via Submission (Rear-Naked Choke) in the third round after a close back-and-forth battle.
However, this past September left a sour taste, as Kimura suffered his professional loss of his career, after dropping a bout to Canada’s Mitch Gagnon at UFC 165 in his opponents backyard.
Now with his first loss of his career behind him. Kimura looks set the record straight and get back on track in 2014, when he welcomes Jon delos Reyes to the Octagon.
Jon delos Reyes (7-2), a 26-year old, who fights out of Countershot MMA looks to keep his four-fight win streak intact when he makes his Octagon debut. Reyes hasn’t lost a match-up since 2010, after being forced to tap via Submission to Russell Doane.
January 4th marks his first fight back since September of 2012, where he was able to submit Troy Bantiag via Submission (Armbar) in the first round.
