Leandro Issa vs. Russell Doane set for UFC Fight Night 34

UFC Fight Night 34 gets another pair of Bantamweights added to the card when Leandro Issa squares off against Russell Doane at Singapore’s Marina Bay Sands Expo and Convention Centre, January 4th.

UFC officials confirmed the match-up with FSA earlier today.

Leandro Issa (11-3) fought on the Asian MMA circuit before getting signed to ONE FC.

The Brazilian would later gain recognition after defeating Masakazu Imanari on his promotional debut, and has since then been a staple for the organization.

Issa will now start from the bottom and look to work his way up when he steps inside the Octagon for the first time at the turn of next year.

The 30-year old Brazilian Jiu Jitsu Black belt who trains out of Evolve MMA was last seen in a thrilling encounter with Yusup Saadulaev this past April at ONE FC 9: Kings and Champions.

Russell Doane (12-3) will be the man standing across from him.

The Hawaii native began his Mixed Martial Arts career back in 2008 and has since then competed under promotions such as X-1, KOTC, Destiny MMA and PXC.

Doane recently stopped UFC veteran Jared Papazian at TPF 17 (Tachi Palace Fights) earlier this month to claim the vacant Bantamweight strap.

The aggressive striker has went 3-2 in his last five outings, dropping a close Split Decision loss to Kyle Aguon and losing to now PXC Bantamweight champion Michinori Tanaka.

Headlining the event will be former Strikeforce Welterweight champion Tarec Saffiedine, and Korean Top Team’s fast-rising Hyun Gyu Lim.

Here’s how the card looks thus far:

Tarec Saffiedine vs. Hyun Gyu Lim
Tatsuya Kawajiri vs. Hacran Dias
Kiichi Kunimoto vs. Luiz Dutra Jr.
Kyung Ho Kang vs. Shunichi Shimizu
Katsunori Kikuno vs. Quinn Mulhern
Dustin Kimura vs. Jon delos Reyes
Max Holloway vs. Will Chope
